Crumbly Apple Pie

Ingredients

½ cup white sugar
¾ t cinnamon
1/8 tsp salt
5 cup thin apple slices (Granny Smith work great!)
1 unbaked 9" pie shell
¾ cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
¾ cup sifted flour
1/3 cup butter or margarine

Instructions

Mix white sugar, cinnamon, salt and apple slices in mixing bowl. Arrange in pie shell. Blend brown sugar and flour; cut in butter (cut into pieces) or margarine with a pastry blender (or fork) until crumbly. Bake at 400° on bottom shelf for 35 minutes. Serve plain or with cream, whipped cream, cheese OR vanilla ice cream (MY personal favorite).

Say what?

One of our three – Mike or Em? renamed this dessert Crumby Apple Pie at an early age. Every one loved it. I guess our linguist didn't hear the "l" when we said the name.
